Vivian McKinnon- Hydro-ease
Moving to Northern Ireland in 2010 seen me staying within the charity and voluntary sector, a sector I had been in, in Scotland since 2001.

With a background of adverse childhood experiences resulting in compromised mental health and addiction I had committed my working life to using my experiences to support others to make sense of their current reality.

In 2015 I stepped out of the comfort of employment and set up Northern Irelands first dedicated floatation centre. Floatation has been a huge part of my journey and I knew others would find similar solace in the magic salty water. So I packed in my job, spent my husbands savings and put myself £66,000 in debt to bring my unique brand of healing to Northern Ireland.

Floatation involves 25cms of body temp water and half a tonne of Epsom salt and you simply float. Allowing our body and mind to rest,  recharge and reconnect to the true authentic you in a gravity free environment.

Recent research has also proven a reduction in activity within the fight of flight network of the brain during a float reducing the anxiety response and supporting an improvement in overall mental and physical health.

With qualifications, accreditations and vast amounts of experience in many treatment modalities in unison with floatation my brand of change work is quick and effective  with permanent outcomes due to working with the whole person and the root cause rather than the symptoms of personal experience.

As well as founding Hydro-ease I am NI’s regional coordinator for SMART Recovery UK and own Wellness Consultant NI where I work with individuals, teams and community groups to improve knowledge and understanding of  the signs and symptoms of mental health.

Another way of doing this is by being an accredited trainer with the Health Care Trust and deliver Mental Health first aid a 12 hour training course exploring all areas of mental health.

By highlighting the importance of how we sort our sensory information to create our version of reality, and understanding the effective application of these filters we can successful live the life we desire through studying our own personal excellence.

If you would like to know more about the motivation and passion behind what I do, avail of my service or indeed book yourself a float please get in touch by emailing vivian@hydro-ease or by calling the centre on 02895 215 155
