Sue Bywater-Read of Vyta Sue Bywater-Read joined Vyta as Strategic Relationship Director in July 2023. With over two decades of experience in the IT industry, Sue has a deep understanding of IT asset and lifecycle management, project management, and secure data disposal.

At Vyta, Sue is the driving force behind building and nurturing strategic relationships. Her mission is to align Vyta’s collaborative vision and goals while fostering strong connections both within and outside the company. Sue’s passion, drive, and industry knowledge have made her an invaluable addition to the Vyta team.

Vyta is a Newtownabbey-based company with a truly global reach, with sites in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and England, and a network of partners and customers in over 50 countries worldwide. Specialising in IT asset disposition (ITAD) and IT Asset Lifecyle Management (ITALM), Vyta’s core business is based around IT security and the process of collecting, refurbishing, recycling and reselling redundant IT equipment. This essential practice helps to reduce e-waste and promote a circular economy, ensuring old technology gets a new lease on life.

Still based in her native Essex, Sue’s journey in ITAD began back in 2000 at RDC, in Witham, Essex, where she honed her skills in building various IT related solutions for customers. She worked within organisations such as EOL IT Services and Global Resale, expanding their client bases with innovative partner solutions. At The Workshop, Sue built an IT Asset Management function from ground up, inputting processes and procedures along with showcasing her ability to lead and innovate within a fast-paced Global tech industry. Collaboration, facilitation and building rapport with various Stakeholders were key to her success.

Sue said:

“I’ve always believed that building trusting, honest relationships is vital to succeeding in this industry. It’s all about understanding the challenges others face and working together to find solutions.”

As a qualified psychotherapy counsellor supporting charities such as Mid and North Essex Mind since 2018, Sue brings a unique, empathetic perspective to her role.  Sue believes these transferrable skills are invaluable in cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment for the account managers she leads at Vyta.

“Mentorship and collaboration have been instrumental in my journey. I value mentorship very highly, having been fortunate enough myself to have the support of key stakeholders throughout my career.

“It is great to be in a position in my career at Vyta, a company that champions diversity and women in leadership roles, where I can support and empower other women in the ITAD industry, helping them to see the opportunities that exist and make their voices heard.”

This week, Sue will deliver a keynote speech at the ITAD Summit 2024 in Miami, as part of the “Tech Trailblazers: Women Pioneering Change in IT Asset Disposition” panel. Sue will share her inspiring story from part-time receptionist and single mum to industry leader in ITAD, highlighting the importance of mentorship, collaboration and diversity.
