Rachel Brady - Wellness Facilitator / Hypnotherapist & Editor of Health News NI Magazine

Rachel has used her time in lockdown to her advantage by following her long-term dream of creating a health & well-being magazine which will be out in June 2020. Rather than the print version she had first imagined, Health News NI is a digital interactive online magazine. This is a challenge for me as I have been quite resistant as far as social media is concerned but I am learning every day she says.

It is no coincidence that Rachel is interested in health & wellbeing. She qualified as an Aromatherapist & Reflexologist in the late 90’s before becoming a teacher in the works of Louise L hay in 2006. She assisted in the training of 40 more ‘Heal Your Life’ teachers in Ireland in 2009 She is a community teacher, Breathwork facilitator, workshop leader & inspirational speaker with venues including The Kings Hall Belfast. Rachel has a diploma in Person-Centred counselling & trained as a hypnotherapist, in Harley Street, London. She states: Hypnotherapy gets right to the heart of emotional issues, making them easier to resolve. If done professionally & compassionately I believe it is one of the most effective therapy’s around. Rachel also has training in TAT, TFT, EMDR & more. She offers chakra dance & movement workshops as well as meditation & Mindfulness. Rachel is currently a Facilitator with Aware NI. She has written poetry & assisted in community works publications & also wrote a column for a local magazine.  Rachel holds a degree in community development & explaining why she got involved in community work, offers a favourite quote from Mother Theresa: ‘I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

Rachel realised the need for more availability & choice of health services during the high wave of suicides in N. Ireland. The current Covid 19 pandemic reinforces that necessity. The ways in which we reach out for help are changing, with less people attending Gps & more of us turning to social media for health care advice. A new wave of online support videos, therapies via zoom and appointments carried out by phone are now becoming the norm for maintaining positive mental health. Rachel says, “In the past, modern & alternative health practices have remained mostly separate but I believe they all have a place in society today & can often work well together to benefit healing”.

It is widely known that Nurses & Carers from all backgrounds suffer from ‘Compassion Fatigue’ due to neglecting their own health while looking after others. Now is the Time to Care. Health News Ni hopes to inspire Employers of businesses, communities & the HSCNI to encourage more health & wellbeing training & activities among their workers in order to promote positive mental, physical & social wellness.

Health News Ni is a platform highlighting valuable skills of professional practitioners who are passionate in supporting health & well-being in the community. It is a One Stop Shop providing access to a choice of conventional, complementary & alternative health services operating throughout N.I & covering the 6 Counties: Armagh – Antrim – Down - Fermanagh – L/Derry – Tyrone
