WIB Outstanding Innovation winner 2018 and Young Business Woman of the Year 2011, Cara Macklin has combined her years of experience growing businesses with her professional training as a leadership coach to launch her business Cara Macklin Coach. Both a senior leader and coach, Cara, worked as a Director of the multi award-winning Macklin Care Home group and Malone Lodge Hotel, which has grown to become a multi-million pound organisation from 3 businesses with 250 employees to 7 businesses and 600 employees. Cara’s held various positions including Operations director, Strategic Development, New Business Opening, Sales & Marketing, Head HR & Transformation and Procurement Director. After graduating with an MBA from Cass Business School London and working internationally Cara returned to NI and opened NI’s first Lifestyle Care Home, cited by IoD chair as a “world class concept.”

Having trained as a professional coach, Cara runs her own business combing her hands on business experience and training, coaching successful leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit develop themselves, their team and ultimately grow their business. As a senior leader Cara knows first-hand how exciting yet challenging and lonely it can be growing and developing a business. Through her own experience and coaching other leaders, Cara understands the many challenges leaders face - loneliness, inner-critic sabotage, clarity on where you’re going, how to develop high performing teams, getting buy in and effectively delivering a strategy.

As a leader, Cara’s enthusiasm comes from three things: Imagination, Inspiration and Impact. Striving to create something no one imagined, inspiring people to believe it’s possible and implementing action to make it a reality. In helping other successful leaders to do the same, Cara has coached a wide variety of senior leaders who are focused on developing themselves and their people - adding real, tangible value to grow their business.

Cara’s leadership and coaching has achieved multi award winning success, led numerous teams of up to 120 across multi million pound organisations, saved up to 12% on multi-million pound accounts and business redevelopment increasing profit by 70%. In 12 months of opening a new business achieved 100% occupancy, prices 30% above competitors and awarded Care Home of the Year. Being recognised Cara has also achieved, IoD finalist Director of Innovation 2018 and NI Top 40 under 40 2018.
